Tests. Today. Not ALL of Them Tedious.
Been studying for SAT, ACT, GMAT and GRE tests. I've also got to have a look at the current GED practice tests. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to my old high school and actually GRADUATE, were it only possible! For what it's worth, I did get my GED - years after I dropped out. At the age of 23. At present, I'm only assimilating those parts of the books that contain verbal tests - Reading Comprehension, Science, Social Studies, etc. Forget the Math, for now. Well, maybe SOMEONE with a lot of patience could teach me SOME Geometry, but I digress. Algebra? Tried it - can't fathom it!
I'm actually one of those weirdos who loves taking tests, and nowadays, I can pace myself. Better results that way, and why not, since I enjoy exercising the prerogative of "taking it easy." One undoubtedly gets faster as one perseveres. I'm not actually in school, but probably would be, if only money weren't such an obstacle. And I'm lucky enough to have sufficient time to devote, on a daily basis; enough for three or four practice tests, at a minimum.
Again, why not? It tends to sharpen the mind, even if most every exam is multiple-choice, about the easiest type you can take.Of course I realize that this whole business of excessive testing has been cynically used by "Anti-Education" types, especially Republicans in state legislatures. Especially in Texas! They're busy, in a concerted and comprehensive effort, dumbing down America, but that's another story for another day.
I passionately hope there's some advantage, incidental as it may be, conferred upon those lucky devils who consistently score highly on tests.
P.S. I hope so.... PASSIONATELY, in direct proportion to how just how tedious some of these exams are.
