Recall Walker Redux

Recent editorials in the State Journal and elsewhere claim that “Endless recalls hurt Wisconsin.” This attitude reveals an aversion to the democratic process in action. Over 900,000 Wisconsinites signed, with much justification, petitions demanding that this historic election proceed. The issues at stake transcend Scott Walker’s devious assault on collective bargaining. Wisconsin Republicans have cut K-12 funding by about $800,000,000. Massive cuts to Badger Care have resulted in 20,000-plus children being kicked of its rolls, another travesty. A very significant reduction in UW’s budget is another major bone of contention. And according to the AP, Wisconsin led the nation in job losses from March 2011 to March 2012. Walker and his retinue are directly responsible for our state's current political maelstrom. Despite the irritation suffered by those who dread the will of the people, these constitutionally-sanctioned recalls do not constitute a circus of any kind. The June 5 election centers around real issues, some of them life-or-death matters. Regardless of the outcome, those of us who seek to reverse the damage done by the Walkerites intend to press on, legitimately utlizing the recall procedure if it's conducive to our goal.

Barack Obama's conscience is bothering him - it's a tough break to have to play God. The wrathful, genocidal God of the Old Testament, that is. All the aerial drone strikes Obama's authorized have made him increasingly pensive. Obama's a very intelligent, perceptive fellow, so resolving when and where it's ethically acceptable to grease a few innocent, hapless peasant families really gets on the president's nerves. Word is, Barack Obama has been smoking three extra cigarettes daily, in order to handle the increased tension. Come on now, Mr. President: you know what they say about omelettes! A few "eggs" will regrettably have to be broken, to "Get the Bad Guys," in our most typical, comic book American style! http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/29/world/obamas-leadership-in-war-on-al-qaeda.html?_r=2&ref=world

On this HELL of a Memorial day, I've been thinking about the millions of Republican and Repub-leaning young people one finds - to ones consternation - in the USA. There's something just plain WRONG about young people being Repubs, let alone being Tea Baggers. Trust me, your youth is precious; in physical terms, you don't want it sagging prematurely, as happens to everyone who passes that indefinite age of, well... "commencing to sagging." Do you kids want to look like Ronald Reagan or Margaret Thatcher, or, worst of all, Ron Paul, well before your time is due? Millions already sound like them! Mentally and emotionally, you should be enjoying these years - but how can you when you emulate the likes of George Will? I reiterate, there is a biological imperative for you to hold fast to your youth, for all its worth. Newsflash: Ronald Reagan was notoriously IMPOTENT! Is that COOL? Try to stay in a youthful mindset; pretty soon, it'll be too late anyway. Really, those old, mostly White, Male S.O.B.'s in Congress, Silicon Valley AND Wall Street DON'T have your best interests at heart. Facebook's stock option scam should have keyed you into that regrettable fact!

1975

In the past, security personnel didn't touch people's private parts at US airports. In 1975, for example, I don't think Americans would have stood for it, but after 40 years and more of the worst kind of brainwashing about "This dangerous world" and "them protecting us," (US) Americans seem to be willing to put up with just about anything. Even Israel doesn't do that to air travelers, from what I'...ve heard. Things have gotten scary in the USA, things have gotten very, very sick in a way I never imagined would come to pass. And frankly, I don't know exactly what to do about it. If the majority wants it that way, or just doesn't care enough... then... do we in this country... "Get what we deserve," so to speak? Me, I don't feel I deserve it, that's for sure!

Poor little Janeville, with its charming old neighborhoods...

So the US auto-manufacturing sector is "booming" again, or so the champions of Free Market, Private-Enterprise Extremism WOULD HAVE US BELIEVE! Perhaps that's why the former GM plant in nearby (40 miles distant) Janesville WI is STILL shuttered. Took a trip there a week ago. Yes, the plant still stands; but the parking lot is weed-covered and the factory looks just as abandoned as it's in fact BEEN for four long, difficult Janesville years. If there's a recovery in progress down in Rock County, you could have fooled me! Who forgot to tell Janesville the "wonderful news?"
